What is Hadoop

Hadoop is a distributed computing platform and framework that is designed to store, process, and analyze large amounts of data across clusters of commodity hardware.  Hadoop supports a variety of programming languages, including Java, Python, and Scala, and provides a range of APIs and drivers for integrating with other applications and platforms.
