At Porsche, we’ve never believed in bigger simply for the sake of size. Our sports cars have tended to be compact, no larger than needed to fulfill the aims of performance, comfort, and utility. There’s an intensity of purpose to a Porsche that you can trace directly to this mindset. We suspect that many of you may look at life the same way: The more intense and focused, the more pleasure you derive from each moment. That is the attitude embodied in our newest Porsche, the Macan. It is the compact SUV as only Porsche engineers could have imagined it. The new Macan has emerged in two distinct forms: the ultra sporty Macan S and the high-performance Macan Turbo.

Each one unmistakable in its own segment. Each one a Porsche—from design and driving dynamics to equipment specification. The new Macan. Life, intensified. Concentrated and intense, but still powerful and versatile. As efficient as possible—given the priorities of passenger safety and comfort. We designed Macan to give you ample room for active lifestyles. But when it came to performance, we left no room for compromise. Macan. The first true sports car among compact SUVs. A sports car that distills the race-bred performance of Porsche into a 5-door, 5-passenger SUV that is practical enough for every day, yet never ordinary.

What makes a Porsche a Porsche? The fact that it is instantly recognizable, some would answer. Others might say it’s the face that stands out from the crowd. Our designers would say that it’s the Porsche DNA, an encoding of essential traits passed from generation to generation. It’s a design language articulated across 65 years of Porsche sports car evolution. It originated in the mind of our founders, and through constant refinement in both the wind tunnel and on the racetrack, it’s given every Porsche its own unmistakable character. And with the new Macan, our development of it continues. The Macan clearly shows the dominant genes. The Porsche design traits include the characteristic headlights integrated in the hood. And the large air intakes in the front fascia are just waiting to inhale life. Every single second.

The hood stretches through to the wheel arches. This lends the front a broad and powerful presence reminiscent of the legendary Porsche 917, a race car which won countless victories in the early 1970s—including at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it held the distance record for 39 years. The taut profile is typically Porsche, too. Every line seems to give it the sense of a predator ready to pounce, metal forms appearing as muscles flexed.

The roofline slopes distinctively down toward the rear, drawing what our designers call the “Porsche flyline.” A visual highlight is the side blades. With these, the new Macan design pays homage to the Porsche 918 Spyder. The blades make the proportions of the doors appear narrower and the flanks sleeker and sportier. Side blades are available with a Lava Black finish, in the exterior color of the vehicle, or—for a particularly exclusive statement—in Carbon Fiber. In sizes of up to 21 inches, the wheels of the Macan are equally eye-catching. Each Macan model is instantly identifiable by the color of its brake calipers: silver on the Macan S or red on the Macan Turbo.
